We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in radiation oncology physics focused on the advancement of knowledge-based automated planning and quality control on multi-institutional clinical trials. Making highly accurate patient-specific predictions of radiation dose deposition is one of the most important elements to ensuring the highest quality of care is achieved for all cancer patients.   This project is split between a NIH-supported implementation of advanced quality control measures on an NCI cooperative group clinical trial and the development of new algorithms that can process a plurality of prior patient treatments to infer correlations between anatomical variations and expected radiation deposition.  The successful candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team of medical physicists (Kevin Moore, Ph.D. and Sandra Meyers, Ph.D.) and clinician-scientists (Loren Mell, M.D. and Jyoti Myadev, M.D.) to advance this research and provide support to the NRG GY006 clinical trial.


Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in physics, medical physics, computer science, or another closely related field. Prior experience in radiotherapy physics is not necessary, candidates with excellent doctoral training in any specialty are encouraged to apply.  We have been successful in offering post-doctoral fellows an alternative pathway to clinical medical physics residency positions, the prerequisite for becoming a board certified medical physicist.  Candidates interested in switching specialties to therapeutic radiologic physics are encouraged to enquire about this option when applying.  The successful candidate must possess excellent writing and communication skills; the position will involve writing papers and giving presentations.


Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with strong programming skills and experience with MATLAB, C#, LabVIEW, Caffe, and/or Torch.  Training or experience with machine learning is a plus.  Eclipse and MIM experience are also desirable (but not necessary).
